Problem

  • Today’s electronic devices use a source of technology called LED. LED emits blue light as strong as ever, making us more vulnerable to the damage.

  • Blue light, natural or artificial have very short wavelengths, resulting in higher amounts of energy

  • The blue light or (HEV) high energy visible light flickers more easily than lights with longer wavelengths. These strong flickers produces a glare that causes eye strain, headaches, and physical or mental fatigue.

  • Drastic exposure to the artificial blue light from electronics causes serious long term damage to eyes, since our eyes do not develop any protection from the light.

  • According to studies, 60% of the people in the world spend at least 6 hours in front of a digital device every day.

  • Harmful effects include disruption of the circadian rhythm ( physical, mental, & behavioral changes according to the time of day; body’s signal time to sleep, eat, etc.), Digital Eyestrain Syndrome, risk of certain types of cancers (iris melanoma & large choroidal melanoma), heart disease, obesity, diabetes, depression, and of course, loss of vision.

  • Two American surveys released on July 2014 concluded that of children age 12 - 15, 74% of them spend at least 2 hours a day watching TV or on the computer.
